A little to the left, I think to myself as the enormous van, secretly carrying four members of the Bruins,
barely squeezes through the Zamboni door. After one of the side view mirrors is pushed into the van the it creeps onto the ice.
The Bruins players, Milan Lucic, Blake Wheeler, Andrew Ference and Matt Hunwick emerge from the van. The mites and
U10 team are just finishing up their skills session and they look mesmerized by all the action. And frankly, I was too,
are the Bruins really at our rink? Yes, yes they are!!
This event, hosted by Bauer, the Bruins and the NHL, was organized to generate excitement and to donate equipment to
a worthy program that would use it to grow participation in youth hockey. It’s pretty amazing that these organizations
chose Cambridge from among all of the programs in the Greater Boston area. I think one of the main reasons that they chose
CYH is because of our commitment to innovative new learning programs (Community Outreach, Learn to Play for Girls and X-ice).
The initiative to develop these new programs is not only great for kids new to the sport, but it also is powerful for the program
as over time it grows our competitive travel teams.
Back to the action. As the Bruins exit the ice I realize that, there are a lot of people here!
Everyone's taking pictures, getting autographs, wow, I’m so impressed. After the commotion dies down,
I head out on the ice, we still gotta practice.
OK, Now here's the good part - did you get a good picture you'd like to share with the community?
